The invention concerns a safety device for syringe equipped with a collapsible head. The inventive device enables, when the injection is over, the return element to move back the syringe body inside the sheath into a safe position, thereby causing the syringe body to retract into the sheath. Thus all accidental contact with said needle becomes impossible. By means of the collapsible head of the sheath which, in extended position, covers the part of the syringe body extending beyond the rear end of the sheath, the syringe is maintained in the sheath and cannot be released therefrom by its rear end.
