An extraction device for liquid-liquid extraction of at least one analyte fr om a sample and on-line transfer of said analyte(s) to a gas chromatography apparatus is described, wherein said extraction device comprising a membrane - based extraction unit (1), a sample inlet (2), a sample outlet (3), and an organic liquid inlet (5), wherein it also comprises a needle (4) to be connected with a gas chromatography apparatus injector for the on-line transfer of the analyte(s) from the membrane-based extraction unit (1) to th e gas chromatography apparatus via the needle (4), an organic liquid being immobilised as a stagnant phase in a volume of less than of less than 20 .mu .l in the membrane-based extraction unit (1).
