<p>The invention relates to a continuous method for producing polyisobutene by polymerization of isobutene in the presence of a catalyst from boron trifluoride and at least one cocatalyst in an inert organic solvent. The inventive method comprises the steps of a) discharging, in a continuous manner, a part of the reaction mixture obtained by the polymerization from the polymerization reactor, b) removing the catalyst from the discharged material and/or deactivating it during the discharge, c) removing the solvent and non-reacted isobutene from the discharged material and returning it to the polymerization reactor. The inventive method is further characterized in that the returned solvent and optionally the isobutene are first washed with water and dried before they are returned to the polymerization reactor.</p> |
