The invention relates to aminophenol derivatives of the general formula (I) with the substituent X of the general formula (II), wherein at least one of the groups R<1> and R<2> and at least one of the groups R<3> and R<4> is not hydrogen, and in which -A- represents one of the groups -(CH2)x-, -CH2-c(CH3)c-, -O-(CH2)y-O-, -O-(CnH2n-z(OH)z)-O-, -O-(C2H4-O)u- or -O-(C3H6-O)v-, or to the water-soluble salts of the above-mentioned compounds. The inventive compounds are particularly suitable for use as developers in oxidative dyes for dyeing keratin fibers. |
