The invention relates to a circuit device for protecting voltage-sensitive electrical components against voltage-overload. Said circuit device has a passive network (D2, C2) comprising an electrical accumulator (C2). Said accumulator is used to store at least one fraction of the electrical energy which is supplied to at least one voltage-sensitive electrical component (T1) to generate a voltage or voltage impulse. The invention also relates to an active network embodied as a shunt regulator (T2, IC) which is used to remove at least one portion of the electrical energy stored in the electrical accumulator (C2) from said electrical accumulator (C2).
