The unit is mounted on an automatic gearbox selection lever (1). The gear lever is fitted with at least one multifunction switch (3) that enables setting of both the automatic gearbox and the automatic distance regulation. The gear lever is fitted with an actuating knob enabling release of the drive gear block with the vehicle stationary and functioning as an on-off switch for the automatic distance regulation with the vehicle moving.
