Use of a mixture of thidiazuron or thidiazuron and diuron with one or more protoporphyrinogen-(IX) oxidase inhibitors, for effecting leaf abscission of plants

The use of a mixture of thidiazuron or thidiazuron and diuron with one or more protoporphyrinogen-(IX) oxidase (PPO) inhibitors (I), for effecting leaf abscission of plants is disclosed. The novel use of a mixture comprising: (a) thidiazuron or thidiazuron and diuron; and (b) one or more PPO inhibitors of formula W'-V' (I) for effecting leaf abscission of plants is claimed. W' = one of 23 N-containing heterocyclic groups; and V' = one of 11 aromatic groups. Full definitions are given in the DEFINITIONS (Full Definitions) field. An Independent claim is also included for a mixture comprising: (a) thidiazuron or thidiazuron and diuron; and (b) one or more PPO inhibitors (I) where W' and V' are as above, except for a mixture of thidiazuron or thidiazuron and diuron, and fluthiacet-methyl.
