The invention relates to a data transmission method during which a data signal provided in the form of a data stream of data bursts (B) is transmitted between a transmitter and a receiver using at least two transmission modes. In the first mode, a reference signal (RS) is transmitted in the respective data burst (B) by the transmitter and is evaluated in the receiver. In the second mode, the transmitter does not transmit any reference signal (RS) in the respective data burst (B). In the second mode, additional redundancy data (RD) of the data signal is transmitted in the respective data burst (B) instead of transmitting the reference signal (RS).
