<p>A conventional OCB liquid crystal display involves a problem that a display defect occurs under a specific drive condition or in a specific temperature range and hence the contrast degrades. A liquid crystal display according to the invention has voltage applying means for applying a voltage to the liquid crystal sealed inside a liquid crystal panel and a voltage limiting circuit for maintaining the applied voltage above a predetermined voltage necessary to maintain the aligned state of the liquid crystal used for display. Therefore no display defect due to alignment transition from bend to spray occurs. The liquid crystal display further has black level voltage adjusting means for adjusting the black level display voltage at which black level display is effected or color adjusting means for adjusting the color when white is displayed. Therefore high contrast display and reliable color reproducibility are realized.</p> |
