A process for producing a polysilalkylenesiloxane which comprises using as a catalyst a polynuclear ruthenium/carbonyl complex comprising three or four ruthenium atoms and carbonyl groups coordinated thereto to polymerize a four- to seven-membered cyclic silalkylenesiloxane through ring-opening polymerization in the presence of a silane compound having at least one Si-H bond to yield a corresponding chain polyalkylenesiloxane.
