A jacket tube (2) with a base (1) to seal it gas-tight, is fabricated in a massive forming process. An eye required for mounting the shock absorber on a neighboring component, is then fastened to the base. The eye (3) has a flange (5) for smooth engagement on the base, which is welded to the base surface via several separate weld seams (6). Base and/or flange have a shoulder, and surround each other concentrically in the shoulder area. The shoulder has several projections.
