The invention relates to a multiple speaker consisting of at least two speakers. A low-pass frequency filter is connected upstream of one of said speakers and a phase shifter in the form of an all-pass filter is connected upstream of the other. The aim of the invention is to provide an arrangement of a multiple speaker of this type which is simple to produce and which has a substantially better frequency response and emission characteristics, with simple means. To this end, at least one phase shifter is connected upstream of the other speaker or speakers, respectively, the phase adjustment of all of the phase shifters being regulated in such a way that they correspond to the phase position of the speakers emitting the lower sounds so that all of the loudspeakers emit the low sounds in the same phase position. The invention is based on the idea that it is possible to use several speakers with preferably the same construction and allow all or at least the majority of these speakers to transmit the low sounds, the speakers that are required to transmit high frequencies in addition to the low frequencies being modified in their phase position in such a way that the low and lower frequencies respectively are emitted in the same phase position. A large speaker surface transmits the low frequencies, a small speaker surface transmits the middle and high frequencies. This produces better transmission results than can be achieved with speakers that are configured specifically for particular frequency ranges in terms of their structural shape. As a result, the invention is technically simple while the improvement in the emission characteristics that is possible is impressive.
