An optical storage comprises first and second parallel guide rails (52, 54), a carriage (44) for holding an optical head (46), a pair of first sliding bearings (110) fixed to the carriage (44) and adapted to slide on the first guide rail (52), and a second sliding bearing (112) fixed to the carriage (44) and adapted to slide on the second guide rail (54). The first sliding bearing (110) has a first bearing surface (110a), and the second sliding bearing (112) has second and third parallel bearing surfaces (112a, 112b). The second and third bearing surfaces (112a, 112b) of the second sliding bearing (112) are substantially parallel to the first bearing surface (110a) of the first sliding bearing (110).
