The hollow bodies can be collapsed to a small volume when empty and not in use. Each body is connected to a pump via a filler valve so that it can be filled to a large volume, and it has a relief valve, which is open during filling. The relief valve is located at a high air collection point, and is controlled automatically dependent upon air pressure. Each body is a trapeze-shaped cover (2) containing long hoses (3,4,5), which extends along an embankment line. It has a wide base (6) engaging on the ground, and decrease in size in direct of rising flood water. The hollow bodies may be located on the top of the dike or embankment, or are contained ready for use in a shaft-like ditch extending along endangered low-lying ground.
