A method is disclosed for the production of synthetic zeolites with an MFI structure, an Si/Al atom ratio of about 8 to 45 and very small primary crystallites, which comprises reacting an Si source, an Al source and an organic template with each other under hydrothermal conditions. The Si/Al atom ratio is about 9 to 50 and the ratio between the longest and shortest axis of the primary crystallite is about 1.0 to 1.5: 1. The method is characterised by carrying out the reaction in the presence of seed crystals with a median particle size of about 10 to 100 nm, preferably of 20 to 50 nm, obtained from an earlier batch without carrying out a separation from the mother liquors. The synthetic zeolites can be used as catalysts, in particular as catalysts for acid catalysed reactions, oxidation, reduction and absorption. |
