<p>An apparatus for punching and closing a wire comb to bind sheets with a prefabricated wire comb which includes a plurality of prongs bent into circles which are inserted into holes in the sheets, includes a base plate and a punching mechanism with a basic number of punch pins. A table is mounted on the base plate and is adjusted by a first stroke adjusting means in a parallel direction with the row of the punch pins. A first lever for performing the punching operations is provided and actuated by a hinge means. A case having an upper planar surface with a feeding groove is provided for inserting the wire comb into the sheets. A closing unit for bending the wire comb into a circular shape has a pressure member slidable downward by a second lever and a supporting plate cooperating with the pressure member.</p> |
