The toothbrush has a toothbrush axle (5), which can be displaced in an oscillation movement about its longitudinal axis. A toothbrush gearing mechanism (4) has a drive body (7) with a rotation axis (8) perpendicular to the toothbrush axle that generates the oscillation movement, which is coupled to the toothbrush axle by a coupling part (9). The coupling part has a fork, whose tines lie with engagement bodies on opposite sides of an inclined cylinder inclined to the rotation axis of the drive body. The cross-section surface of the inclined cylinder forms a circular surface in the plane of the engagement bodies.
