The system has a row of ultrasonic transducers (10) for sending ultrasonic waves and detecting echoes reflected by ultrasonic dispersers, a number of pulse generators (24) coupled to transducer elements (12) to cause selected elements to pulse that form a transmission aperture with a number of transmission waveforms, an activation circuit (26,28,30), a receiver (16) and a display level system (22) for displaying an image with first and second scan lines that are functions of first and second path-summed received signals. The first and second transmission beam paths essentially coincide with the first and second receive beam paths. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method for imaging ultrasonic dispersers and an imaging system.
