A threaded bolt forms part of the axial housing in an automotive steering assembly or ball and socket joint. In addition to the thread (4) anchoring the bolt in the assembly, the shank has a second thread which is an outer air bleed helical thread (5). The axis of the air bleed thread (5) is inclined at an angle to that of the main thread (4). The air bleed thread runs in the opposite direction to that of the main anchorage thread intersecting at an angle of 90 degrees.
