The folding vehicle cover, especially the roof of a convertible automobile, is moved between a position where it covers the automobile interior and an open-roof position where the roof is stowed. In the stowed position, the roof is packed away by movement of the carrier bracket (10) against the vehicle bodywork. The position of the carrier bracket (10) is moved by height and longitudinally, and it swings on a lateral axis (11). The bracket is moved by a setting unit (13) at an end side.
