Lighting arrangements

A lighting arrangement particularly for use in the nose of a step comprises a linear array of LED's mounted closely spaced on a printed circuit board which is inserted within a translucent plastics tube 14 mounted in a step nose 10. The plastics tube may be square in section or have a pair of translucent surfaces through which light from the LED's may be viewed. The LED's on the PCB are mounted in groups of 10 with a series resistor. If, when fitting a series of groups in a step nose one of the groups is less than ten an appropriately valved zener diode may be placed in series with the LED's. The outermost of the translucent surfaces may be narrower than the innermost such surface.
