<p>A method for preparing a tri or diaminated 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene comprising the steps of: <SL> <LI>(i) deriving a tri or di hydroxy-substituted 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene from a tri or di hydroxy-substituted benzene precursor by nitration; <LI>(ii) deriving a tri or di alkoxy-substituted 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene from a tri or di hydroxy-substituted 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene precursor by alkylation; and <LI>(iii) deriving a tri or di amino-substituted 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene from a tri or di alkoxy-substituted 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene precursor by amination, </SL> wherein, for each step, the tri substituted precursor generates the tri substituted derivative and the di substituted precursor generates the di substituted derivative.</p> |
