PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling a high-voltage discharge lamp stabilizer for a headlight of a vehicle are provided to restrain the excessive optical output of a high-voltage discharge lamp for a headlight, to realize fast lighting on and uniform optical output characteristic, and to reduce the size of a controller by reducing the number of components. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling a high-voltage discharge lamp stabilizer for a headlight of a vehicle comprises an EMI(Electro Magnetic Interference) filter(9) to remove a noise, a high-voltage igniter(30) having two-stage power converting structure and to early light on a discharge lamp(40), a power converting circuit(100) including a transit current supply circuit(21), and a control unit(200) consisting of an Io amplifying unit, an MCU(Microcontroller Unit) and a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) IC unit and to control the optical output of the discharge lamp.
