The invention relates to a method and apparatus for electrically grounding poles or posts which are used in electrical and/or telecommunication networks. The system includes a conductive base support affixed at or near the base of the pole and to which the ground wire is attached. The base support not only provides resistance to lateral forces , thereby anchoring the bottom of the pole, but also presents a relatively large surface area fo r electrical bonding with the soil/earth at the bottom of the pole which facilitates grounding.</ SDOAB>
