Method and apparatus for remote accessing of and data retrieval from a Unified Message data management system operated under a multi-layered communication management platform having a URL. The method is operated through a user terminal interfacing between a user and the multi-layered communication management platform, allowing different types of multimedia messages received through the platform, generated by at least one information source and received from at least one communication network, to be locally and remotely accessed through the user terminal. In accordance with the invention, the user terminal is configured to use a Java<TM> pager applet for connecting to the communication management platform, and to use the pager applet to present to the user a visual user interface including a plurality of data access options for retrieving and replaying through the user terminal respective types of textual and multimedia messages by selecting and operating at least one of the data access options. |
