The invention relates to a method for purifying waste gases (1) containing volatile organic compounds and dust particles, which accumulate, for example, in the production of wood panelling, such as particle boards. According to said method, sand (3) is mixed with the waste gas stream (1) before the latter is fed into a first heat exchanger (2) for heating the waste gas. The waste gas (1') mixed with sand (3) is subsequently supplied to a combustion chamber (4), in which the organic compounds are oxidised at approximate temperatures of preferably 800 DEG C. The waste gas (1''), from which the organic compounds have been separated, is subsequently fed into a primary separator (5), where the sand (3) is eliminated again and then flows through the first heat exchanger (2) for heating the supplied waste gas (1), before being fed to a dust separator (6), where the dust particles are removed from the waste gas. |
