PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processor loaded with a touch pad and capable of switching a relative coordinate mode and an absolute coordinate mode and a storage medium. SOLUTION: A CPU 31 transmits an initializing command to the touch pad 4 at the time of absolute coordinate mode processing, sets up the pad 4 to the absolute coordinate mode '640*48O' and moves a mouse cursor on a display screen to an origin (0, 0) to enter into the waiting state of input instruction operation and judge the existence of the input instruction operation. Then the CPU 31 transfers a digital signal corrected by an A/D converter 32 to a display control part 5 as coordinate value data (X, Y), enters into the waiting state of 'ESC' key input instruction operation inputted from an input device 7, judges the existence of the input instruction operation, and when there is no input instruction operation, sets up the touch pad 4 to the relative coordinate mode.
