PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transferring method capable of effectively removing paper powder from a transfer paper as a method for transferring a toner image to the surface of a transfer paper from the surface of a photoreceptor drum through the use of a transfer roller. SOLUTION: A paper powder removing device consisting of a pair of an insulated roller and a conductive roller and having the conductive roller arranged on the side of the transferring surface or on a side opposite to the transferring surface of the paper to be transferred is provided on the carrying path of the paper to be transferred. In the state of holding the conductive roller to have a potential of the same polarity or inverse polarity with and to a transfer roller in accordance with the position of the conductive roller, the paper to be transferred is put between the pair of the rollers and the paper powder is removed from the paper to be transferred. After that, the paper to be transferred is made to pass through a gap between the transfer roller and the photoreceptor drum to execute transferring.
