PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a conventional image processing method that increases processing time resulting in deteriorating the productivity because preliminary scanning for automatic color select(ACS) is needed before main scanning to read actual image data in the executing the ACS. SOLUTION: While a scanner conducts image reading scanning (S1623), an ACS task is executed. When a color original is discriminated, the information is given to a printer and the ACS task is normally finished. After the end of scanning, when the color is not discriminated (S1624), the information of a black/white original is given to the printer (S1625). Then the image processing unit prepares for a succeeding original by back-scanning.
