PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion valve for a refrigerating device, which prevents the hunting of a compressor un an air conditioner for vehicle. SOLUTION: An expansion valve for constituting a refrigerating system is constituted of a first spring, energized into the closing direction of a ball type valve body for regulating the opening degree of a valve provided on the half-way of a refrigerant inflow passage, a movable cylinder, receiving the valve body as well as the first spring and provided with an opening unit, from which the valve body is exposed, on the upper surface of the cylinder while receiving a retaining flange movably into up-and-down so as to face the retaining flange to the outer periphery of the lower end of the same, and a second spring, located between the inner wall of the refrigerant inflow passage and the retaining flange while having a resilient force effecting into the opening direction of the valve body under a given load against the resilient force of the first spring. In such an expansion valve, the opening degree of the valve body in the valve mechanism is controlled so as to be capable of being retained in constant in a given area.
