PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic arc tube having two constituent components. SOLUTION: A hollowed ceramic body consists of a male tube part 4 with a wall 14 and a female tube part 2 with a wall 14 joined by a lap joint 25 to form a cavity 32 filled with a filler 35. An electrode 20 is inserted through the wall 14 into the cavity 32 and connected to an external power source. The lap joint 25 has internal and external positioning boundaries 22 and 24 and a sealing boundary 28, to tightly seal the joint of the male and female tube parts 4 and 2.
