PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a warning display system with respect to a scanning speed in a manual scanning of a color cordless hand scanner. SOLUTION: A scanner unit including a lighting means, an image read means, an image data storage means, a moving amount detection means (encoder), an image data compression means (JPEG), a 1st detection means that detects whether or not a remaining buffer area for raw data in the storage means is less, a 2nd detection means that detects excess of scanning speed by the encoder, and a warning generating means, ORs an output of the 1st detection means and an output of the 2nd detection means to allow the warning method to raise entirely the same warning.
