PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an erroneous output preventing device for a gas meter, not making an error in display-outputting consumed gas quantity even when external vibration is received. SOLUTION: An electronic unit built in a gas meter judges from signals of a seismoscope, which have been read in a step S2, whether external vibration is added to the gas meter. When the external vibration is added and is a seismic wave, the electronic unit closes a valve unit in a step S5 to shut off gas flow. When the external vibration is not added in a step S3, normal processing is carried out in such a way that the electronic unit calculates and integrates the gas flow in a step S10 based on the signals of a vibration detecting sensor. On the other hand, when the seismoscope senses the external vibration excluding an earthquake and a signal is sent from the vibration detecting sensor, the electronic unit cancels a output signal from the vibration detecting sensor and does not integrates the gas flow in a step S7.
