PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of components. SOLUTION: In a host system 200, at least a part of a digital signal processing part is processed by a software 300. A signal which is picked up by a pickup 110, amplified by an RF amplifier 121 and binarized by a binary circuit 122 is supplied to the host system 200 through a host I/F 210. The processes such as EFM demodulation of the binarized signal, decoding of the EFM demodulated data, encoding of the user's data and EFM modulation of the encoded data are carried out by the software 300. A strategy is added to the EFM modulated signal by a strategy adding circuit 133, and the resultant signal is converted into a laser driving signal by a laser driver 134. The data are written into a 2nd optical disk by the pickup 110 in response to the laser driving signal.
