PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an inexpensive magnetic disk recording/reproducing system having a large capacity and a high transfer speed. SOLUTION: An information signal is recorded/reproduced by moving a magnetic head in the radial direction of a rotated magnetic disk. At this time, an identification signal is provided before/after a data row, and depending on its output level, judgement is made as to correction reading. Thus, the information signal is recorded/reproduced without performing the tracking servo control of the magnetic head. In addition, the feeding speed of the magnetic head during recording is set larger than that of reproducing. Recording tracks may be alternately formed in the radial direction of the magnetic disk by a pair of magnetic heads having different azimuth angles. Alternatively, recording tracks may be formed to have guard bands by one magnetic head. Read information signals are stored in a memory, re-arrayed in the order of addresses and outputted.
