PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clue for selecting a suitable information source to an operator by precisely calculating adaptability of respective information sources corresponding to a retrieval request in the case of information retrieval of plural information sources. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a file storage part 300 for retrieval for storing a file for retrieval prepared for each data base, receiving part 201 for receiving the retrieval request from a client, request processing part 302 for discriminating the kind of the retrieval request, document adaptability calculating part 303 for calculating adaptability of respective documents corresponding to the retrieval request ion the basis of the similarity of vectors, document extracting part 304 for extracting the prescribed number of documents on the basis of calculated adaptability, data base adaptability calculating part 305 for calculating adaptability of respective data bases on the basis of the number of extracted documents for each data base or total sum of adaptability, and transmitting part 306 for transmitting the processing result to the client.
