PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a containing capacity of a cold storage chamber and handling operability to be compatible in an intermediate capacity refrigerator. SOLUTION: A cold storage chamber 16 is formed in an upper part of a refrigerator body 14, a deep freezing chamber 18 is formed in a lower part, a plurality of shelves 26 are formed in the chamber 16, and a vegetable chamber 17 is provided in the lower part. In this case, a height H to the shelf 26a of an uppermost stage in the chamber 16 is set to H1<=1,300 mm, and a height H2 from a floor surface to the upper end face of the chamber 17 is set to H2<=800 mm. Thus, a containing capacity can be increased to the maximum limit in a range capable of introducing or removing an article lightly without raising an arm above a user's shoulder. A shelf area of the chamber 16 is increased while improving handling operability of the chamber 17 in a height of a user's waist to enhance the containability.
