PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a call connection method by which a software version of a communication opposite party can be recognized between exchanges and communication between exchanges with software programs of different versions can be attained. SOLUTION: When the version number of the software program of a caller exchange is older than that of a called exchange, the called exchange interprets parameter information of a packet from the caller exchange along the version of the caller exchange. In the case that the version number of the software program of the caller exchange is newer than that of the called exchange, the caller exchange interprets parameter information of a packet from the called exchange along the version of the called exchange.
