PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a local air conditioner which can efficiently and inexpensively air-condition a local area. SOLUTION: This local air conditioner is provided with a heat-exchanging unit 6, an intake port 2a which sucks air from a prescribed local area by whirling the air in a tornado-like state, and a suction duct 2 which supplies the air taken in through the port 2a to the heat-exchanging unit 6. The air conditioner is also provided with a supply air duct 2 which supplies the air heat-exchanged by means of the unit 6 to the local area, and a supply air chamber 4 having an air outlet 3 which blows out the heat-exchanged air supplied through the duct 5 to the outer periphery of the local area by spirally whirling the air. Therefore, the air conditioner can suppress the diffusion of a horizontally blown-out air flow by utilizing the action of the whirling component.
