PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it easier to replace back-light, and to improve reliability, while making a liquid crystal display device low-profile. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device comprises a liquid crystal display element 3 having a pair of opposing transparent substrates 31, 32 holding a liquid crystal layer in-between, back-light 61 arranged on the back face of this liquid crystal display element 3, a driving circuit substrate 4 for driving the liquid crystal display element 3, an outer case 2 provided with an opening part 21 for housing these liquid crystal display element 3, back-light 61, and driving circuit substrate 4 and exposing a display area of the liquid crystal display element 3, and the transparent 31 on the front face side of the pair of transparent substrates 31, 32, is inserted into the opening part 21 of the outer case 2.
