PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow positional detection and positional correction for a pointer of high reading resolution. SOLUTION: This time piece has a detection means for reading binary information from a pattern of a soft magnetic material by arranging the pattern over one round on a member moving together with the pointer, by impressing a short pulse-like voltage to a coil using a sensor comprising a yoke comprising the soft magnetic material and the coil wound onto the yoke, and by comparing a counter-electromotive force generated in the coil with a reference voltage, a prediction means for predicting binary information in a time after one step from the binary information of 6 bits read out by the detection means, and a comparator for comparing a pointer position predicted by the prediction means with a pointer position by the binary information detected by the detection means. Advancing of the pointer by the number of steps corresponding to an output of the comparator and step rotation of the number corresponding to the output are precluded from being conducted when the output is not zero.
