Continuous roll of partially opened plastic bags and apparatus for partially opening the roll

A roll of plastic bags (16) comprising a continuous flattened and folded, extruded tubular web (10) having a plurality of layers. A weld line (12) extending across each layer forms the bottom of a bag on the roll. The bags are separated from an adjacent bag by a separation line (14) extending across each layer behind the respective weld line (12), where the separation line (14) of the top and bottom layers are completely separated across a substantial width of the bag. The remaining layers of the bag are perforated along the separation line (14) where the central perforation is a slot (14A), which is longer than the other perforations for engaging with a tongue (20) of a dispenser (16). When a bag is removed from the roll (16) along the separation line (14), the next bag is partially opened at the tongue (20) of the dispenser (16) ready for use.
