摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radioactive material storage facility that can maintain the radiation shield capability of a concrete shield over a long period by reducing the rate of cracking of concrete by means of a simple arrangement, and effectively preventing its degradation. SOLUTION: A concrete module 10 has a canister 11 and a shield 12. A cooling air passage 15 is formed between the shield 12 and the canister 11. A layer 14 made of a cylindrical heat insulating material is formed near the center of the thickness of the shield 12 to divide the shield into an inner peripheral portion 12a and an outer peripheral portion 12b. The layer 14 of heat insulating material reduces a temperature difference between the inner and outer surfaces of the inner peripheral portion 12a and the outer peripheral portion 12b of the concrete shield 12. A plurality of layers 14 made of the heat insulating material may be disposed inside the shield 12 as necessary.
