PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reliability of a direct current motor by suppressing adhesion wears caused by intermetallic welding, reducing the wear of brushes, and obtaining metal brushes/a commutator provided with a stable rectifying function with respect to changes due to aging. SOLUTION: At least the electromechanical sliding surface of a brush assembly or punched continuously clad thin substance obtained, by punching a continuously clad thin substance made of a noble metal radical or/and a Cu radical alloy into a prescribed brush shape is controlled into a super specular surface to an average surface roughness of 20 nm or smaller via the medium of lubricating oil with a nanometer scale.
