PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input/output buffer that reduces a ring back effect. SOLUTION: This input/output buffer is characterized in provision of a variable resistor that is connected between an input terminal and a point receiving a system voltage of the input/output buffer. The system voltage is set to a level equal to a high level logic stage of a data signal from a data transmission bus and received by the input/output buffer. When the input data signal is at a high logic level, the variable resistor is switched to be a low resistance. On the other hand, when the input data signal is at a low logic level, the variable resistor is switched to a resistance of nearly equal to infinity. Thus, the ring back effect of the input/output buffer can be decreased, the profit by low power consumption is obtained and the area of the printed circuit board can be decreased.
