PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new oscillation method for a semiconductor laser and a semiconductor laser, which can oscillate laser beams of a plurality of wavelengths with high accuracy and superior repeatability. SOLUTION: An active layer 1, having a continuous wavelength peak, is pinched between a first reflecting mirror 2 and a second reflecting mirror 3, thereby structuring a surface-emitting laser resonator plate 10. Furthermore, a first spacer 4 and a second spacer 5 are formed between the first reflecting mirror 2 and second reflecting mirror 3 and the active layer 1. A thickness t of the first spacer 4 is changed into a longitudinal direction Q of the surface- emitting laser resonator plate 10, whereby the interval of the first reflecting mirror 2 and second reflecting mirror 3 is changed in the longitudinal direction Q. Thus, the resonance wavelength of the face light emission laser resonator plate 10 is changed in the longitudinal direction Q. Exciting lights are incident at a different position in the longitudinal direction Q of the surface-emitting laser resonator plate 10, whereby it is possible to oscillate laser beams having mutually differing wavelengths, in correspondence with the resonance wavelength.
