PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for a magneto-optical recording medium capable of being easily mass-produced commercially and achieving high separation between tracks, and to provide a method for manufacturing the medium. SOLUTION: A first dielectric material layer and a magnetic material layer are formed on a land.groove substrate. A substantial dividing into sections is formed in the magnetic layer by irradiating the land/groove substrate with ion beams from an oblique and upper side inclined by a prescribed angle to the plane of the substrate to remove a part of the performed film of the magnetic material layer, then a second dielectric material layer is formed on the magnetic layer to form the magneto-optical recording medium.
