PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy for measuring a traction characteristic. SOLUTION: A traction testing device can highly accurately determine an applying load by supporting a stand 14 by being floated from a base 50 by an air bearing 15 by placing a spindle unit 12 and a torque meter 70 on a common stand 14. In the traction testing device, the torque meter 70 is increased in rigidity, the spindle unit 12 is made to cope with a high load, resonance with a testing machine is restrained, and oil shearing force can be highly accurately determined. The traction testing device can detect the presence of direct contact of two cylindrical testing pieces by a voltage change by impressing voltage between the spindle units 12, 22.
