PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic automatic tensioner capable of restraining bubbling of oil in a low pressure oil chamber, capable of preventing bubbles rolled in the oil in the low pressure oil chamber from being mixed in a high pressure oil chamber and causing no possibility of functional deterioration. SOLUTION: A hydraulic automatic tensioner 10 has a high pressure oil chamber 23 and a low pressure oil chamber 24, and the high pressure oil chamber 23 and the low pressure oil chamber 24 can communicate in one direction to the high pressure oil chamber 23 from the low pressure oil chamber 24. A baffle 1 is arranged in the low pressure oil chamber 24 for preventing mixing bubbles 28 rolled in oil 27 stored in the low pressure oil chamber 24 with the oil in the high pressure oil chamber 23. The baffle 1 is arranged so as to form narrow clearance 5 passing oil 27 and hardly passing the bubbles 28 between the baffle and a casing 11, and has a partition wall part, a flange part 3 and a spring seat part 4.
