Provided are triazine ring containing compounds for treating viral infections, particularly infections by caused by respiratory syncitial virus. The compounds have the general formula (I) wherein: A is a moiety selected from the group consisting of formulae (II) where C' is selected from -SO3H, -OSO3H, -OH, or -COOH; B' is -NH, -NR1 or O; R1 is selected from H, (C1-C6) lower alkyl, straight or branched, wherein the carbon atoms may be optionally substituted with C1, Br, F, OH or CN; X is Cl, F, or the moiety of formula (III) where U' is selected from the group of -SO2, -CO, -NC(O), or -NC(S); W' is selected from the moieties of formulae (IV): Y is -(CH2)n-; n is 0 to 6; m is 0 to 2; Z is selected from H, CH3, CF3, -CH2-(halogen), where halogen is Cl, Br, F or I, -CH2OH, -COOH, -COO(C1-C6) lower alkyl straight or branched, -CONR2R2 ,CN or and R2, in each occurrence, is independently selected from H or (C1-C6) lower alkyl; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts and esters thereof.
